　　奈莉（艾曼纽·贝阿 Emmanuelle Béart 饰）和男友相恋多年，死心塌地的想要和这个男人携手步入婚姻的殿堂。然而男友实为好吃懒做之人，为了维持生计，奈莉不得不奔波在街头，靠着打零工的收入养家，心中不免充满了愤恨。
　　一次偶然中，奈莉结识了名为阿尔诺（米歇尔·塞罗 Michel Serrault 饰）的男子，阿尔诺是一名德高望重的法官，两人相谈甚欢。阿尔诺聘用了奈莉，任命她为自己的私人助理，给与其丰厚的报酬，奈莉更是因此邂逅了风流潇洒的出版商文森特（让·雨果·安格拉德 Jean-Hugues Anglade 饰）。一来二去之间，奈莉和文森特之间碰撞出了激情的火花，但与此同时，奈莉发现阿尔诺竟然亦对自己抱有别样的感情。

　　Middle class student Bob Letellier enters a new world when he meets Alain, a free-thinking rebel who, along with his group of young Parisians, has opted for a life of instant gratification instead of work and commitment. At a party, Bob meets a young woman, Mic, who appears to be just as carefree and cynical as Alain. Mic's only dream is to own a luxury car, and with Bob's help, she manages to find the money to but it. Mic's friend Clo discovers she is pregnant and, not knowing who the father is, she asks Bob to marry her. When they next meet at a party, Bob and Mic deny that they have any feelings for one another - a declaration that soon leads to tragedy...
　　
　　Marcel Carné is widely regarded as one of the standard bearers of French quality cinema of the 1930s and 1940s, responsible for such masterpieces as Quai des brumes (1938) and Les Enfants du Paradis (1945). How ironic then that, in 1958, towards the end of his film-making career, he should make a film which dared to portray the attitudes and behaviour of the 1950s youth, in a way that effectively captures the mood and sentiment of the time.
　　
　　Les Tricheurs was a hugely controversial film, not least because of its blatant depiction of adolescent free-love, and was even banned in some regions of France. It also received some intensely unfavourable reviews, most notably from the young hotheads on the Cahiers du cinéma such as François Truffaut who cited this film as a prime example of the decline of French cinema into mediocrity. In spite of all this negative press, the film proved to be an astonishing commercial success, attracting five million cinema-goers, and was awarded the Grand Prix du Cinéma français in 1958.
　　
　　Whilst Les Tricheurs is not as flawless as Carné's earlier masterpieces, it is nonetheless a significant work, having the power to both shock and move its audience, whilst having great entertainment value. It evokes the mood of its time in a way that few French films of this period did, depicting young people as pleasure-seeking rebels, rejecting the austerity and discipline of the previous generation whilst pursuing a life without cares, responsibilities or love. Similarities with James Dean's films of the 1950s (most notably Rebel without a Cause) are apparent, although Carné's treatment of young people is far more abstract - in his film they merely symbolise a world that has lost its way, more or less victims of post-war prosperity. Although the young people in Les Tricheurs lack the authenticity to be totally credible, the film does make an important, and indeed quite disturbing point, about where the permissive society may be heading.
　　
　　Much of the pleasure of the film is in the performances from its four lead actors, Jacques Charrier, Pascale Petit, Laurent Terzieff and Andréa Parisy, although only Terzieff is really convincing in his role. Marcel Carné originally considered Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo for the parts of Bob and Alain respectively, before opting for Charrier and Terzieff. As a consolation, Carné offered Belmondo a smaller part in the film - alas too small for the actor to be noticed by the public. Belmondo's breakthrough had to wait until the following year when he starred in Jean-Luc Godard's revolutionary A bout de souffle, a film which offers a very different perspective of the youth generation.

　　Disaster movies tend to inhabit the close-but-not-too-close realm of the ‘what if?’, but Quentin Reynaud’s taut drama evokes a reality that is painfully immediate, as the world combusts around us. Alex Lutz (recently seen as the son in Gaspar Noé’s Vortex) plays a man determined to escape with his elderly father (the ineffable André Dussollier) from a wildfire that is rapidly approaching their forested area of southern France.
　　The pair know all the local roads, and the secret detours, but when they are caught in a dead end, they seem to be running out of possible exits. At once road movie, claustrophobic jeopardy thriller and portrait of a prickly but tender father-son relationship, this finely acted and executed film expertly lays on the heat.

　　Toujours plus abondante et moins chère, la nourriture industrielle a envahi nos assiettes, avec des incidences sur la santé de plus en plus fortes : jamais l'obésité et le diabète n'ont été aussi répandus. Et jamais les étiquettes n'ont été aussi compliquées à déchiffrer. Pour percer les secrets du secteur agroalimentaire, Maud Gangler et Martin Blanchard sont eux-mêmes devenus… des industriels. Avec l’aide d’un laboratoire alimentaire spécialisé en recherche et développement, ils se lancent dans la production d'un plat populaire : le cordon bleu. Un projet offensif qui leur permet de comprendre de l’intérieur les rouages de l’ultratransformé, où la fabrication d’un produit en apparence simple tient de l’assemblage complexe. Pourquoi, alors que l’escalope panée cuisinée à la maison ne nécessite que cinq ingrédients, en faut-il ici une trentaine ? La viande du cordon bleu mérite-t-elle encore son nom ? Peut-on appeler fromage cette pâte fondante obtenue à grand renfort d'additifs ? L'emballage lui-même est-il nocif pour la santé ?

　　En partant d’un produit emblématique comme le mal nommé cordon bleu, puis en élargissant l'enquête, ce documentaire détricote les fils cachés d’un système ultraconcurrentiel. Se jouant des frontières, l’industrie agroalimentaire se révèle diaboliquement novatrice, usant de technologies toujours en avance sur les réglementations et d’astuces marketing rodées, ou s’aidant de puissants lobbies pour servir ses intérêts. Les autorités nationales et européennes s'avouent techniquement débordées et peinent à contrôler les substances toxiques qu'elles ont commencé par autoriser. Pourtant, l'espoir d’un changement qualitatif est impulsé par la société civile : sous la pression des consommateurs et d’applications de notation alimentaire comme Yuka, certains industriels cherchent à mieux faire pour bénéficier d’un "clean label" auquel s’attache le grand public. Réduction du nombre d'ingrédients, abandon d’additifs, choix de protéines végétales : une démarche vertueuse qui tourne parfois au casse-tête, quand elle n'aboutit pas à un effet inverse, avec des plats végans à la qualité sanitaire douteuse. Au menu de cette enquête riche mais remarquablement digeste, experts, nutritionnistes, docteurs en sciences des aliments ou consultants en "transformation positive" éclairent une question devenue cruciale : que mange-t-on aujourd'hui ?

　　50 ans après la mort du Général De Gaulle, ce film retrace son parcours, de sa naissance en 1890 à son enterrement à Colombey-Les-Deux-Eglises en 1970. Cette épopée raconte la force visionnaire et le destin rectiligne de cet homme qui a changé le cours de l'Histoire et qui influence encore la vie des Français. Certains dirigeants politiques revendiquent encore aujourd'hui une partie de son héritage. Charles De Gaulle reste l'Homme providentiel dans l'imaginaire collectif des Français, même 50 ans après sa mort.
